Toddler Couch Cover

New Cover
Original cover
I bought this plaid toddler couch at a garage sale earlier in the spring for $5.  Can you believe it's almost fall?  I used my old curtains from a couple years ago to make a cover for it.
It's totally awesome and turns into a bed.  I did the cover in 10 minutes, mostly because that was all the time I had.
It's a fun stripe print that matches the living room good.  I can't wait till I get to actually go pick out fabric and make another cover.  I just pinned it inside out and then sewed along those lines.  Right now it has a fold top so I can easily wash it.  I also want to embroider something on the back cushion when I get the time.

Spanish Chicken Pasta

Ingredients:
1 6-8oz bag of precooked chicken breast strips
4 oz cream cheese
1 Cup Chicken Broth
1 Tbsp Flour
1/3 of a Red Pepper cut into strips
1 Garlic clove, diced
2 Tbsp Olive Oil
1/3 Cup of Salsa
1 Tsp of Paprika
7 Oz of cooked spaghetti noodles

Directions:
Saute Garlic and Red Pepper strips in 1 Tbsp of Olive Oil for 1 minute.  Add Chicken, and cook for 2 minutes.  Empty this mixture into a bowl, and use this same pan for 1 tbsp oil and 1 tbsp of flour.  Stir till the flour is absorbed and whisk in chicken broth slowly, watching for lumps.  Add paprika.  Stir until bubbling, then add Chicken mixture and cover.  Cook for 5 Minutes.  Add Cream Cheese and salsa and stir.  Cook 1 more minute, then serve over spaghetti noodles. Add some fresh pepper and chives.  Very Tasty!
I hope you'll give this a try.

I had a very great weekend, filled with cakes and pies.

And water!
Boy did she have fun!
Someone made this whale...a very nice job!

A metal dinosaur....that she wasn't allowed to touch.  I told her he could bite.

Please stop by and leave me a comment!  How was your weekend?

Quick Baby Quilt

I had two hours I could put together, so I jumped and made this quilt.
The little one was all over it, while I was making it.  She LOVES the animals.
The back side is from an old sheet I had more than 10 years ago.  Wow, how time flies.
I sewed the batting in between the fabric, so it has some stability to it.

Organize it Photo
So does anyone know where I can find these kind of tongs for less than $8?  I didn't think they'd be that expensive.

And what is a good/decent pepper mill grinder?   These are cute, but they run $30.

Puppy Baby Pillow

I made a pillow insert first off, then went on to make a pillow cover.  I included a ribbon on the inside, and then a hook.

The puppy print was a nice touch.  She really likes it. I also made one for my other sweet niece!
Well, she's already got a hold of it here so no more pictures of this one. She's left me for another room to investigate/ terrorize.  It's amazing what a mess she leaves in her wake.

I just put in my Girl's new car seat and thought she might need this as her seat sits upright now.

Any plans for the weekend?

Applique for My Baby Girl's Shirt

My baby just celebrated her First Birthday! It's a celebration of her 1 year, and of 1 year of parenthood for me and my husband.  So many changes ...in just one year.

From feeding every two hours in the early morning hours to her now crawling around trying to find something else to get into and investigate. Standing, and attempting to walk without holding on.  I'll be the first to say...I was soo tired at the beginning.... so tired. And now I'm just tired all the time. Just kidding!

Things are way better and I really enjoy seeing her change so much.  It's amazing the love you feel for your own child. I love her more than Iced Coffee in the morning. That's saying ALOT! She's absolutely a Daddy's girl already.  She just gets soo excited when she sees him. I love that.  I'd move mountins for my baby if I had to. She's the best. I love her.

Ok, on with this project. I just unburied my sewing machine after it had a week off.

You need a plain shirt, some scrap fabric with a print on it, and pins. I cut this bunting upside down and couldn't use it, so I'm going to cut out the cat.
I already loved this shirt because it goes with almost anything...but I need something for my cat.
After cutting it out, I pinned and sewed around it. Then went back with a zigzag stitch a couple times because my edges were fraying more than I wanted.

Done! Could this have been easier for such enjoyment? I love it. And as you can see the drool, she really loves it too!

Fabric Birthday Pennant Banner

My Baby's 1st Birthday is about a week away, so I made a pennant banner for decoration.
I made a pattern out of a paper grocery bag, and cut out my triangles with pinking shears.
I sewed these up and then put them into a double sided bias tape.  Pin, pin, pin, and sew. Done!

I love the prints on these! So very cute.  Joann's had a sale of 60% off, so I grabbed an 1/4 yard of each.  Now I can enjoy them all!

These make great gifts for anyone! Just change up the print!

For the little Ones...Embellished Baby Dress / Refinished Stools

I found these fabric flower buttons recently and just had to get them!
This dress has always been a bit plain.
Baby Girl trying to get involved in putting on this button.  Two minutes later, this dress is way cuter!

It has been a very busy week. How about you?
My husband refinished these stools.  They were broken and plain...unfinished looking wood. He used Antique White Milk paint on the legs, then sanded some off for the Antique effect.
He glued the seats back together, and put on a Walnut Danish Oil.  Turned out very nice! I wish I had taken the before picture so I could've shown you.
I hope everyone has a great weekend, and the weather warms up again...I wish!

Baby Doll Clip

It came to me in a dream. Ok, actually when I was staring off into space for my very own 5 minutes of me time, I figured it out. Like most baby toys, I prefer them to hook to something.   I'm constantly picking up what she's dropping.  At the grocery store, I like to hook a toy on the cart if it's going to be more than 20 minutes.

I got this little $1 baby doll with blue eyes like My Baby. She loves it.

So, I decided if it was going to travel, it was going with a clip.  I got some ribbon, and sewed it on the back underdress of the doll. What a Super Easy thing to do and worked out great.  Just a suggestion for those in the same situation!
Hope it helps!

Cute as a Button Baby Tee

I told ya I'd find use for those buttons yesterday! I had fun making this. And I just put it on Claire, and it's even cuter!  My inspiration was one of these $0.25 buttons.
Grabbed one of her plain tees, and embroidered on another piece of material. I'd embroider right on the shirt, but I've heard that the threads can rub their skin and irritate it, so I opted for adding this fabric. Hey, I could also use this shirt on a boy...maybe?

Of course I'm putting a pink onesie underneath this for those who think my baby looks like a boy. Poor girl, she gets that a lot.

Ok, so I also put her in embroidered jeans...gotta make sure they know she's a girl! and P. S. Pink blankets don't help.

What would you do on a baby tee with these buttons? Go here
